Ananya Panday, the daughter of Bollywood star, Chunky Panday, is grabbing a whole lot of attention after her impressive performances in Call Me Bae and CTRL. As the actress enjoys her newfound success, she recently shared how stepping out of her family home transformed her life and emotional well-being.
Ananya Panday recalled secretly crying at home when she lived with her parents
Ananya Panday and her dad, Chunky Panday recently sat for a candid conversation on the YouTube channel, We Are Yuvaa, sharing anecdotes from their acting careers and personal lives. Ananya has gradually become a young sensation with her recent performances. The CTRL actress shared how stepping out of her family home transformed her life and emotional well-being. She admitted that living with her parents often amplified her emotions. Ananya confessed in the chat:
“When I used to stay with y’all, I feel like when I used to get sad, you used to feed into my sadness.”
Ananya further shared that her mother, Bhavana Pandey’s constant questions, like “What happened? Are you fine?” often intensified her sadness instead of easing it. Ananya even admitted to occasionally exaggerating her emotions, saying, “I was acting a little bit while crying at home.” She added that moving out and living on her own has significantly helped her manage her feelings better.
Why living alone was a game changer for Ananya Panday
Ananya has now moved out of her parental residence and has a house of her own, albeit in the same building. Now that she’s living independently, Ananya feels she is more in control of her emotions and nothing affects her as profoundly as it used to. The actress added that she had learned to find happiness in her own company.
Talking about her initial transition after moving out, Ananya recalled that adjusting to solo living was not easy at first. She used to have trouble sleeping alone, but gradually she got the hang of it and felt the transformation.

During the conversation, Ananya also recalled having disagreements with her dad, Chunky Panday over film choices. Reflecting on her work in Liger, which did not receive positive responses from the industry, Ananya admitted feeling upset about the film’s poor performance. Chunky chimed in, admitting that Ananya had blamed and even cursed him for convincing her to take on the project. Agreeing with him, Ananya quipped,
“It was your fault… We are not doing a film together again.”

However, the actress gradually improved her acting in the projects that followed, as evidenced by her recent OTT hits, Call Me Bae and CTRL. Meanwhile, her dad, Chunky Panday is gearing up to revive his iconic character, ‘Akhri Pasta’ in Housefull 5, also set to hit the theatres in 2025.
