With every episode, Bluey continues to prove why it’s some of the best kids’ TV in a long time!
Fans who tuned into the season three finale of the hit Australian cartoon earlier this month were in absolute SHAMBLES after The Sign navigated some pretty complex storytelling. But amid all the goodness, there was a little hidden gem that you totally might have missed: the show introduced its first gay couple!

During a scene at Bluey’s school in the 28-minute-episode, her friend Pretzel talks about a time when his guinea pig went missing. The sad little guy added:
“My mums told me he might come back, but he didn’t.”
You hear that?! “Mums”! Meaning Pretzel is canonically the proud son of lesbian mothers!
On TikTok, Bluey fan @aussiegirlmargie noted that even the subtitles read “mums,” so there’s no mistaking it. She celebrated the addition as “a really nice and organic way to do it,” adding:
“It was just a natural way to be like, ‘Yeah, some people have two moms. And that’s just part of real life.’”
