1. REBIRTH (INTRO)
‘Rebirth (Intro)’ serves as a great introduction for an EP that is an unabashed love proclamation with each track. The track sports soulful lyrics paired with cinematic instrumentals – “When that door opens / When I get closer to you/I’ll tell you this / I will be special all for you.”
2. INTERLUDE: SHOWTIME
‘Interlude: Showtime’ is like that musical track that announces the start of something spectacular. The track prepares the listeners for the ‘Smeraldo Garden Marching Band’ that follows.
3. SMERALDO GARDEN MARCHING BAND (ft LOCO)
‘Smeraldo Garden Marching Band’ is such an upbeat and jovial song. The marching band music suits the proclamatory tone of the EP so far. The lyrics are quite sweet and positive as Jimin sings,“Fade away with the old, every day is brand new / I’ll call out your name, all you have to do is blossom / Let’s jam together, keep it going, however, you feel / I couldn’t say it face-to-face, but just for you I’ve made a band.” There’s an innocence in the song that is so similar to Jimin’s persona and singing style. Jimin and Loco participated in writing this song.
‘Slow Dance’ is a soft R&B dance number that boasts of sultry suave lyrics – “This is the last romance / I will never let go of your hand / Our favorite song we sing together”. Sofia Carson’s verses add to the imaginative dance of love.
5. BE MINE
‘Be Mine’ is a smooth Latin pop track. Replete with soft guitar strums and beats that can make anyone groove, ‘Be Mine’ is a song that employs dancing imagery to speak about love and life led ahead – “Don’t need to worry / Just follow my lead / So that I can fill your heart even more.”
6. WHO
A late 2000s-inspired track sung entirely in English is just what was needed to showcase a new side to Jimin’s versatility as a musician. ‘Who’ is a track that you would expect to feature in a rom-com, especially something like an SRK-led Bollywood film where the male lead wonders about his lady love – “We never met, but she’s all I see at night/Never met but she’s always on my mind/Wanna give her the world/And so much more/Who is my heart waiting for?”
‘Closer’ than this was released about six months ago. This song is no short of a gratitude letter to fans from Jimin and in extension, BTS. The song smartly incorporates pivotal moments from BTS history – “On the spring day, we meet again, I’ll tell you everything I couldn’t before/My love, my babe, forever by your side/Seven equals one, right, our hearts still beat as one” – and proceeds to paint a picture of love, faith, and gratitude in one another.
