Alia Bhatt’s Jigra has scored a poor opening weekend as the film has seen a drop in collections on Sunday. After collecting Rs. 11.15 crores in two days, the film has collected in the zone of Rs. 5.75 to 6.00 crores on Sunday, taking three-day opening weekend to Rs. 17.00 crores.
It’s curtains down for Jigra as the weekend trajectory is poor and the film will end up being a theatrical failure. The lifetime collections will be under the Rs. 40 crore mark and this spells trouble for all the stakeholders related to the film.
Jigra is another urban film from Dharma, which has alienated the core cinema-going audience and this was always expected when you sign an OTT director like Vasan Bala for a theatrical film. Jigra looked like a sub-par OTT film from the word go, but a certain section in the industry hyped the film prior to its release.
In reality, the teaser and trailer gave the vibe of an independent festival film, but unfortunately, even the content has not landed in the right direction. Without Alia Bhatt, the numbers would have been even worse.
