The Kerala Police has released actor and Kerala MLA Mukesh on bail after a thorough medical examination. The actor was arrested on Tuesday on charges of rape and sexual assault which was filed by a female colleague. However, followed by the results of the tests, the actor was granted bail. The reports, albeit, suggested that he was released only after the arrest was recorded.

Furthermore, the actor’s lawyer has confirmed these details in recent reports adding that the actor underwent potency tests too along with a three-hour inquiry procedure. Readers would be aware that the recently released Hema Committee Report created a major uproar within the Malayalam film industry with many high-profile celebrities facing extreme charges of rape and sexual assault. Despite being a prominent figure in films and politics, the actor was investigated by the Special Investigations Team which has been formed to look into these accusations. The SIT arrested the actor on Tuesday, September 24 under section 376 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) after a couple of complaints were filed against the actor.
Earlier too, Mukesh was granted an anticipatory bail on September 5 by the Ernakulam court over charges of rape and sexual assault. Meanwhile, the actor insisted that the allegations were made because of his refusal to yield to the complainant’s blackmails. On the other hand, there has been immense pressure for the actor to resign from his post as an MLA considering these accusations, although, he has been receiving immense support from members of his party.
For the unversed, the release of the Hema Committee Report trigged a massive #MeToo movement in the Mollywood industry where many actors were arrested on charges of rape and sexual assault. It also caused many to give up their high-profile positions which they held in major film associations.
