Maheep Kapoor has lately experienced a difficult period. After being diagnosed with ‘Type 1 diabetes’, she has been anxious about her daughter, Shanaya Kapoor’s debut in the movie business. She talked to her husband, Sanjay Kapoor, about how the deaths of Sridevi and Mona Kapoor affected their children on an episode of Fabulous Lives vs Bollywood Wives.
Maheep Kapoor shares her Type-1 diabetes diagnosis and a health scare
In an episode of Fabulous Lives vs Bollywood Wives, Maheep Kapoor disclosed that she was diagnosed with ‘severe Type-1 diabetes’ in March 2022 after contracting COVID-19 in December 2021. She called Sanjay one day when he was in Los Angeles, feeling ill because her ‘sugar level was up to 700.’
Sanjay stresses that Maheep Kapoor’s quick hospitalisation was crucial in preventing a coma
Sanjay Kapoor detailed his story, expressing that Maheep Kapoor was fortunate to have been hospitalised immediately. He recalled how Shanaya was at Mannat, Shah Rukh Khan’s home, and mentioned that he had urged her to leave immediately. He explained that he had been in constant contact with his nephew, Mohit Marwah, who dragged her and put her in the car, emphasising that without that action, she could have ended up in a coma. He said:
“You were lucky you were immediately hospitalised. I remember Shanaya was at Mannat (Shah Rukh Khan’s home). I said, you immediately leave. I was constantly in touch with Kannu (nephew, Mohit Marwah). Kannu dragged you and put you in the car. If you hadn’t gone, you could’ve gone into a coma.”
Maheep Kapoor reveals doctors warned her of organ failure
According to Maheep Kapoor, the doctors warned that she might have developed organ failure, but their nephew saved her life. She mentioned that she had never shared how her children, Shanaya and Jahaan, dealt with the entire situation with Sanjay. In her words:
“I’ve never told you about the children (Shanaya, Jahaan). And how they dealt with the whole situation.”
Maheep Kapoor informed Sanjay that she could see the fear on their children’s faces when she woke up in the ICU. She added that the events surrounding Sridevi and Mona had deeply affected the kids, leaving them in shock. She said:
“I could see it on their faces when I woke up in the ICU; they were scared. You know, somewhere, with Sri (Sridevi) and Mona, it’s affected the kids so deeply, they were in shock.”
Sanjay Kapoor added that during Maheep Kapoor’s hospital stay, he watched Shanaya ‘grow up in those three days’ by taking over phone calls, interacting with the physicians, and liaising with the family. Mona, the first wife of Sanjay’s brother Boney Kapoor, passed away in 2012 following a fight with cancer. In 2018, Sridevi, his second wife, drowned in a bathtub in Dubai.
