Prominent allies on Friday proposed the name of Narendra Modi as the leader of NDA, clearing the decks for him to become the prime minister for a third consecutive term.
Modi’s name as leader of NDA parliamentary party was proposed by Rajnath Singh and supported by Amit Shah, Nitin Gadkari, and others during the meeting on Friday at the central hall of parliament.
Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief Chandrababu Naidu said Narendra Modi is the right leader at the right time for India. He praised Modi for his relentless efforts during the campaigning in the run up to general elections.
“Honoruable MPS first of all, we are congratulating all of you. We have won wonderful majority. I have seen the election campiagn. For the three months, honourable PM never took any rest. Day and night, he campaigned with same zeal. He started and ended with same spirit,” said Naidu.
Modi in his reply said that the NDA government will deliver good governance and development in the next 10 years and will make the dream of making India a developed nation true.
He congratulated the newly-elected members of the Lok Sabha and thanked all the party workers who worked tirelessly day and night amid the heatwave for the party during the Lok Sabha elections. PM Modi said that voters from 22 states have voted the NDA to power. “Our alliance truly reflects the spirit of India. No pre-poll alliance has been as successful as the NDA,” he said.
