Nakheel Awards $220 Million Contract for Palm Jebel Ali Expansion

Nakheel, the Dubai-based real estate developer, has awarded a significant contract worth AED 810 million (approximately $220 million) for the marine works of its ambitious Palm Jebel Ali project. This major development marks a substantial step in expanding one of Dubai’s iconic artificial islands.

The contract has been granted to Jan De Nul Dredging, a leading company in dredging and land reclamation. The project will involve extensive dredging, land reclamation, beach profiling, and sand placement, all essential to prepare the site for villa construction across Palm Jebel Ali’s 16 fronds. This initiative is part of Nakheel’s broader plan to enhance the island’s infrastructure, ensuring it supports the anticipated influx of residents and visitors.

Jan De Nul is expected to complete the marine works within just over two years. By the first quarter of 2025, the first eight fronds of the project are expected to be ready for the next phase, which includes the start of villa infrastructure and civil works. The Palm Jebel Ali project, once fully realized, will span 13.4 kilometers and offer 91 kilometers of beachfront, aiming to reinforce Dubai’s status as a global luxury destination.

This development comes on the heels of Nakheel’s recent success in the off-plan launch of over 700 villas on Palm Jebel Ali, signaling robust demand for luxury properties in the region. The company continues to play a pivotal role in shaping Dubai’s skyline, with the Palm Jebel Ali project being a flagship development that complements its other iconic projects, such as the Palm Jumeirah.

The awarding of this contract highlights Nakheel’s commitment to delivering large-scale infrastructure projects that not only enhance Dubai’s real estate offerings but also contribute to the city’s long-term vision of sustainable urban development. As Dubai continues to grow as a global hub, developments like Palm Jebel Ali are expected to attract significant interest from investors and residents alike.

The project underscores Nakheel’s strategic approach in partnering with globally recognized firms like Jan De Nul to ensure the highest standards in construction and environmental management. This partnership is set to transform Palm Jebel Ali into one of the most sought-after addresses in Dubai, promising a blend of luxury, innovation, and sustainability.

This contract is a continuation of Nakheel’s ongoing efforts to redefine urban living in Dubai, contributing to the emirate’s reputation as a leader in luxury real estate and visionary architecture.
