UAE Opens Landmark Lithium Battery Recycling Plant

A fully integrated lithium battery recycling plant, the first of its kind in the UAE, has been inaugurated at Dubai Industrial City as part of the country’s ambitious sustainability drive. Operated by Dubatt Battery Recycling, the facility aims to transform battery waste management by integrating advanced recycling processes into a circular economy model. This aligns with national goals such as the UAE Circular Economy Policy 2031 and Dubai’s Integrated Waste Management Strategy 2041.

The plant was officially unveiled in the presence of high-ranking government officials, including Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy, and Dr. Amna Al Dahak, Minister of Climate Change and Environment. These dignitaries emphasized the initiative’s alignment with the UAE’s broader objectives to promote industrial decarbonization and reduce landfill waste. The facility is set to process used batteries into reusable components like lead ingots, which will support local and international manufacturing supply chains across the GCC, Europe, and Asia.
